On June 4th, we welcomed our fifth addition to our family, Weston Scott Canlas. The name Weston is from Edward Weston, a photographer who's passion is something I admire (if you are a photographer and have not read his Day Books, close this browser, go to your local library and check them out!). Scott is my father-in-laws name. We delivered up at the University of Utah Hospital and Primary Childrens. Here is our birth story.
So a side story, this last shot is of the 2 surgeons who did the c-section for Callie. When I asked to take this photo, I was taken back because the gal on the right looked REALLY familiar. Come to find out, it was a past bride of mine from 2006!!! We did not recognize each other with all those scrubs on. So crazy! Thank you Courtney for being an amazing surgeon!
Weston is our living miracle. He has TOF and from what the doctors told us, we were expecting him not to be breathing when he was born. He came out SCREAMING, so he was definitely breathing. They also told us he would have to have surgeries immediately since he has no pulmonary valve. Well, on Friday the 12th, he came home, minus any surgeries, breathing on his own and a completely "NORMAL" baby other than the fact that in a couple of months he'll have to have the surgeries they said. They also told us to expect him to be in the hospital for AT LEAST a month. He was there a week and some change.
A big thank you to all our family and friends for their support during this time. It truly has been one crazy roller coaster and somehow we ended up on top.
Thanks for reading.
...And because some of you emailed me and asked:
Equipment:
Nikon F5
Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4 lens
Fuji Neopan 1600 rated at 1600 developed normal
