Pilgrim's Landing 2nd Ward Camp Out
For the first time in 3 years of living here I had a weekend free in June. Unbelievable. Last weekend my ward from church had their yearly campout down in Mapleton UT. I don't think I've eaten so many marshmallows in one sitting in my entire life. I think almost every kid there had smores for breakfast. How awesome is that? Worst night sleep of my life but it was a complete blast. Hopefully, next year I'll be able to go again (though I doubt it)...
And since you guys asked. Here is the technical info:
Camera : Nikon F5
Film : Fuji 400H
Lens : 50mm 1.4
Aperture : 1.4 the whole time
Developement : Noritsu QSF V30SM done by myself
Scanning : Fuji Frontier "all hard"
Editing program : Photoshop CS2 with some adjustment to levels, curves and selective color but most of them are straight out of camera

The picture of the campfire is insane (in a great way).
Lucky ward! 1. They get to go on a camp out and 2. You took pictures of it!
Jonathan...
nice frames...there's something about the 50 on a full frame (kind of odd to say it that way :-)) camera...

:: you make everyday life so dreamy
you know what the secret is?
everyday life is dreamy. :)
Our ward in Boston goes to "Camp Joseph" in Sharon, Vermont and I always take lots of photos. Ward Campouts are the best! :)
No seriously...only YOU can make a ward campout look exciting.
Love your photos. I check your stuff out daily. randomly enough, is that danny gifford in one of your photos from the ward campout? I went to highschool with him. small world. You rock period.
Ok; yes I am an admitted Jonathan Canlas groupy; but MAN no one can make the simple life look so awesome. My personal favorites:
-The orange Colman drink cooler
-Stacked dutch ovens
-Little girl in purple hoodie
-Guy with Wendy's frosty
-Girls in matching red tops
-Kids with boy in I luv SF t-shirt
These all scream JC's work!!! Even if I hadn't seen them on the blog I would know they were yours ;) You d' master w/ depth of field!!!
Thanks again for sharing your talent!
Wow, Jon. I'll never look at a PL2 ward function the same again.
Cool awakening. Thanks.
Those are amazing, I am buying my own 50 mm 1.4 right now. Who knew a ward activity could create such art!
