So, today, as I was watching/dancing to Yo Gabba Gabba with my kids and I was a bit blown away. First, I hear this great guitar composition and then the voice comes in. Who's voice? The voice of Mark Kozelek! Who is Mark Kozelek you ask? Just click his name in the last sentence. He is LITERALLY one of the last musicians/bands I have yet to see live (besides Erlend Oye and the rest of his crew). Isaac was singing the words to the song. My son, he knows a Mark Kozelek song that I don't!
Then, later on Smoosh shows up to sing a song (never really was a fan of their music but hats off to these 2 girls who when they first busted on the scene were like 10!).
I keep staring at DJ Lance Rock thinking, you know, somehow I've seen this guy before. I know, to me, everyone looks like somebody I know because somehow everyone looks like somebody from one of the hundreds of weddings I've shot. So, I start to poke around on the internets and come to find out indeed I've actually seen and met mr "DJ Lance Rock". He played in a band called the Raymakers who I saw when they opened for either Add N to (X) or Lou Barlow/Folk Implosion who I saw YEARS ago (2000/1?) at the Silverlake Lounge (LA).
Random yes, but it totally made my day. Just as my kids were rocking out to DJ Lance Rock today, I too was rocking out to him just the same just 8 or so years ago. It has all come full circle. Now if I could just somehow see Mark Kozelek...

pete got to see mark kozelek last friday. i didn't get to go because izzy is not taking a bottle yet, and i don't know anyone that would want to watch a fussy baby who won't eat from a bottle until 1 in the morning.
the last time he was in town, i got food poisoning and was ralphing in the bathroom at the venue. we had to leave 3 songs in. so basically, i've had bad luck trying to see the dude. i wonder if i'll ever get to?
:: that my friend, is quite a compliment. thank you thank you
i'd love to see mark kozelek live, too. it's funny, i had that same moment watching yo gabba gabba a while ago, and going, "holy crap! that's mark kozelek!" have you heard sun kil moon's new album yet?

i totally dig groovin' to yo gabba gabba with my four year old. i had the same impression when watching this same song/video on the show. blew me away.
