Your Heart Out Assignment - Sundance Deli
So, I was given the assignment to go shoot the Sundance Deli by the local web darlings at Your Heart Out. I love getting these "assignments" as it is a great excuse for me to take my wife somewhere and usually grab a bite to eat of food that we normally would not get. A shoot that doubles as a date? I'm all for it. As you can see, we got the chicken salad sandwich, a PB&J for Isaac (who accompanied us on our date up to Sundace), the turkey/bacon/avocado sandwich along with some other goodies. If you get a chance, and once it warms up a bit, take a drive up Provo Canyon and go give yourself an excuse to check out how pretty Sundance really is.

LOVELOVELOVE Sundance (and shooting there). But the meatloaf at the restaurant next to the deli (as opposed to the Tree House that's a zillion dollars per person), is aaaahhhhhmazing! Plus I'm a sucker for the stoneware they serve the bread on.
Great shots Jonathan! Its so great having you on PFTP.

Great shots! Were these all with natural light?
Alright, you asked for it. Lets get geeky.
The images above were all shot on a Nikon F5 film camera. The film was Fuji 400H. The lens was a 50mm 1.4. The exposures range anywhere from f/2.8 or f/1.4. I overexposed all of the images by at least a stop. Shot on Manual mode with manual focus (like I do all of my images). Metered with a Sekonic L-508. Scanned on a Fuji Frontier SP2500. Little to no photoshop and if there was photoshop, it was a light dodge and burn and a possible small tweaking of the levels. Basically, salt and peppered to taste though I would say more than half of them are straight out of camera.
Oh so geeky...
Not geeky at all - I'm thankful for the information :) Much appreciated!!
SOOO delicious! All of their sandwiches are incredible! I work up there at the spa so I get to eat there more than the average person! Great photos!
Okay, so I work at Sundance, I am a hostess at the Foundry Grill, right next to the deli, and I came in to work a day or two after you posted this site (but I hadn't checked your blog in a little while so I wasn't aware of this sundance post) and the "deli girls" were RAVING about these photographs. They didn't say your name, and I was more easedropping than anything, so I didn't ask...but they were so amazed at what you had done to their sandwiches, made them beautiful! And it's so funny that it's YOU! You are EVERYWHERE! Carlsbad, BYU campus, Sundance... where to now? My wedding... in who knows when. Haha.
well, elise, it looks like i will be at your wedding in sunny san deigo on aug 2nd
