For those of you in the proud Beehive state.
I used to go to shows all the time. All the time. Not so much anymore. 4 kids, lack of time, and just being out of the scene as a whole are the main reasons. The last couple of shows I went to were not even in this state. But they were totally worth the trip out to see them.
Well, this month, there are 2 shows I'm going to. And to boot they are here in my backyard (well, sort of).
The first show (Helio Sequence 3.20 down in Provo's Velour) was the soundtrack for Hawaii this last week and a half. The perfect music for the long lazy drive along Kamehameha Highway.
The second show (Explosions in the Sky 3.24 at Salt Lake's In the Venue) has been a constant soundtrack for the last 6 years ever since my good friend Dan introduced them to me right before I got married.
Click on any of the links above to listen to tracks on their myspace pages. "Yasmin the Light" off Explosions in the Sky's page is rather delicious. Reminds me of last summer when I was driving down/up the 101 in Northern CA.
Why am I posting about music on my photography blog you ask? Well, as crazy as it may sound, this music really helps me see the world the way I do. I can't really describe it but it makes me feel certain things and makes me see certain things. To be direct and to the point, this music inspires me to create the images I do. It helps my vision as a photographer. Hopefully, it might do the same for you or at least be some new hits you can add to your itunes.
