The LA Philharmonic & the Decemberists
Man, I can't even imagine how he felt having his music backed with an orchestra like they did last night at the Hollywood bowl. It was such a great show. No, it was spectacular. I don't even have words for it. I had such high hopes for Band of Horses and no expectations for Andrew Bird or the Decemberists. The Band of Horses was a complete let down and the latter 2 were pretty mind-blowing. What Andrew does on stage by himself to layer his music (looping after 4 or 8 time and then starting another loop only to loop that one again and start another...does this make sense?) made me really respect him as a musician.
I heart the LA Philharmonic.

I would have loved to have seen the first track of The Crane Wife under these conditions: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/44101-photos-the-decemberists-with-los-angeles-philharmonic-hollywood-ca-070707
No surprise that youtube is already full of clips from this show. Weird to think that I saw The Decemberists at Kilby not many years ago and how far they've come...
It's a strange shame that Band of Horses was a letdown; maybe they had an off night? I caught the Andrew Bird Coachella set and was blown away--because of it "Armchair Apocrypha" has been on repeat for me all summer.
Anyway, cheers to a good time!
